Excitement mounted moment by moment on Saturday, June 27, as Nazarene bikers streamed into Rockledge (FL) Nazarene Church for the first-ever, Nazarene Motorcycle Fellowship (NMF) event. Held in conjunction with the 27th General Assembly, participants included missionaries, pastors, lay persons, and a general superintendent who share the bonds of an enjoyment for riding and a passion for reaching the unsaved.

Rockledge Rumble, highlights included:

  • General Superintendent and biker, Dr. J. K. Warrick, formally dedicated the ministry. Dr. Warrick challenged bikers to stay to the mission: “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some” (1 Corinthians 9:22).
  • Rev. David Middendorf, NMF leader, welcomed bikers from all across the US, Canada, and even Australia who had come for this inaugural event.
  • Marshall Duke, NMF secretary, introduced the NMF leadership team and stated the purpose of NMF is to provide a clearinghouse for information pertaining to organizing, developing, and growing motorcycle ministries in local churches. He underscored: “NMF is not a club that one joins to which one pays dues.” Local Nazarene biker ministries should retain their own identity and names.
  • An offering of $1,534.45 was donated to the Rusty Bellomy Fund, a NMF project that will underwrite the purchasing of motorcycles for use by pastors around the world. Middendorf encouraged Nazarene biker groups to make similar contributions to the Bellomy fund as a result of offerings received at their upcoming biker events.
  • Following a free lunch, the inaugural NMF Ride—a 50-mile trip along the scenic east Florida coastline—was experienced by 106 bikers.

The Rumble concluded with Middendorf challenging the 200+ individuals musically:

He has fire in His eyes and a sword in His hand
And He’s riding a white horse across this land.
And He’s calling out to you and me,
“Will you ride with me?”
We say, “Yes, Yes, Lord, we will ride with You!”

That's the question each of us must answer; Will you ride with the armies of heaaven? Hopefully, your response will be a resounding, "Yes, Lord, we will ride with You!"
